Last night I dreamt I saw you,
in a beautiful balloon.
You were laughing with the wind,
and dancing with the moon.
Your body wasn't ravaged,
and your smile lit up the sky.
Somehow I knew the time had come,

I once called you courageous,
but I didn't understand.
This pain that you were bearing,
it wasn't in your plan.
No one had the answers, no one was prepared.
When that awful guest came calling us,
we were only scared.

Many nights when I can't sleep,
I think about you.
And all the times we've shared,
seeing this journey through.
I cannot seem to fathom this world without you.
And I often have to wonder,
"Who's been helping who?"

So I kiss you, bless you, and I love you.
And somehow, somehow I must let you fly.
To the land, to the land of no more sorrow.
So you can fly, fly on!
