The music you decide for your wedding depends in large part on the particular style of wedding you are planning. If you are planning a traditional wedding ceremony, you might consider the four parts of the wedding ceremony that often are accompanied by music: The Prelude: (Music when guests are arriving). The Processional: (Music when the bride and bridal party make their entrance). The Ceremony: (Music when the bride and groom are officially married). The Recessional: (Music for the departure from the ceremony). Many couples choose to have a special song during the lighting of the unity candle, during the presentation of roses to the bride and groom's parents or after the vows but before the couple is presented to the congregation as husband and wife. ![]() There are basically two types of traditional wedding ceremonies for Roman Catholics. Talks with your pastor will clarify which one is most appropriate for you. In essence, Roman Catholic weddings take place either within the context of the Mass or outside the context of the Mass, in the form of a ceremony called the "Liturgy of the Word". In both ceremonies, music plays an essential part of the gatherings, with both congregational and solo music. Some of the most beautiful expressions of the "heart" of a wedding ceremony take place through the specific music couples choose for their wedding. This is also true for already-married couples who are planning a ceremony to renew vows. ![]() ![]() This song was written by Wynonna Judd. ![]() The Wedding Song was written by Noel Paul Stookey of the group "Peter, Paul and Mary". ![]() This song was written by Brendan Graham. ![]() A more jazzy tune for the less traditional ceremony.
