Anne Milligan has been creating and producing self-improvement, stress management, and inner healing recordings for over 15 years, both as a therapist with individuals and as a healing workshop facilitator. At this time, the following CD's are available for purchase: Mindfulness is a term widely used today, in the areas of mind-body medicine and mental health. Research in the area of neuroscience reveals more and more that our brains tend to form habits, old patterns which affect us very much today, even if we don't realize it is happening.
![]() Anything can become a habit, including the way we think. Thought patterns form mostly because of the "associations" we mentally attach to people, ourselves, objects, and situations. Each time we repeat the thought-association patterns we are reinforcing and deepening the habit. For example, if you have had two straight weeks of insomnia, at some point you are going to immediately mentally and physically tense up when bedtime comes, because you have learned to associate bedtime with the agony of not being able to sleep. Another example would be someone who had a very neglectful childhood and has never known what genuine self-love and self-attention feels like. To them, the mental associations they attach to themselves are not very positive. Each time another self-critical thought pops into their mind and they accept it, the habit of negative self-image just deepens. The worst part of all of this is that what lies within us as a habit is most often what is reflected back to us in the way we live and the relationships we form (or don't form). This even helps to reinforce the problem deeper because those situations do nothing for a person's self-confidence or self-esteem. Habits can be broken, even habits of thought that result in chronic anger, anxiety and depression. Habits form most often in the area of the mind we call the "subconscious". A combination of deep relaxation and repetition of positive mental images and self-affirmations are like putting new data in the memory bank of your computer. You are literally changing the way your are "hard-wired" to think about yourself and your life. I (Anne Milligan) have observed a near-miraculous string of events that follow in a person's life after they have faithfully followed through on this inner work to build self-confidence and self-esteem. It appears that the world around them seems to change in accordance with the changes that are happening within. New more positive people seem drawn to them, they creatively problem-solve more effectively and confidently - things just seem to work out really well for them. What we most deeply believe and expect to happen really does happen. ![]() The recommended use of either of these tapes is the following: | A Family-Centered Approach in Coping With Loss | Healing Mother Loss In Childhood | Motherless Daughters - Dont Be Afraid | Inner Healing and the Soul | Statement of Intention for Counseling Therapy | COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY | SPIRITUALITY IN THERAPY | Stress Management | Guided Imagery For Pain Management | Marriage/Couples Therapy | Healing Meditations | Why Nobody Should be Afraid of Counseling Therapy | Emotional Honesty | | About Anne Milligan | Hospice Music | Contact Us | Consultant Services | Flow of Life Feedback | INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES AND FAMILY THERAPY | Hospice Consultant Fees | Hospice Ritual | | Return Home | Seasonal Affective Disorder | WE ARE ALL ADDICTED TO SOMETHING | Bereavement and Hospice Materials | stress management with the EmWave | SETTING GOALS AND MEETING THEM | Thoughts of Home | |
